Working through the summer often becomes an excuse to daydream—imagining places I’d rather be.
This illustration emerges from that feeling: a woman reading in the shade, in an Italian villa surrounded by ponds, cypresses, and water lilies.
A tribute to the “dolce far niente”, something we sometimes need in order to keep creating.
The image is inspired by a photograph of Peggy Guggenheim on her Venetian terrace, which also appears as the cover of the book The Unfinished Palazzo—a delightful read.

In my imagination, Italian villas drift by, steeped in a romantic, faintly decadent aura—like Villa Medici or the mysterious garden of a Venetian palace evoked by Henry James in The Aspern Papers.
A partir de la ilustración quise divertirme creando elementos nuevos relacionados con el verano; como protección solar o una sandía fresca para combinarlos y crear este estampado veraniego.
